JJill Gyp

So those of you who have store cards know the interest is already excessive if you do not pay off your card for purchases. Now, JJill is charging a fee if you don’t pay off your card for all purchases. I moved and needed some winter clothing so I went to JJill store and purchased some sweaters and other winter wear. I paid off this purchase in two payments. So when I received a bill for $2.00 I was surprised. I called customer service and this is what they told me.

JJill’s new policy is that if you don’t pay off your balances in full for three months, they charge you an extra fee. Now this is certainly misleading as what this really means is that if you don’t pay off your card in full each time, they will charge you. If you pay off a balance in two payments, they charge you the exorbitant interest and then when you pay off the balance, they charge you again. Just because.

The whole three balance thing is ridiculous. If you pay off your balances three times in a row and then split one balance, they are going to charge you. It is just another way to get extra money. They are charging you interest on a zero balance. This is just plain cheating the consumer in my opinion.

Bottom line, I will not be purchasing anything from JJill from now on. This $2.00 fee cost the company hundreds of future dollars. Corporations are taking advantage of consumers excessively. Our control is in not shopping at these retailers.

I will continue to expose retailer and corporate abusive behavior. It is important to hold business responsible for their actions in relation to the consumer. And, in all things really. Mostly, it is best to always pay off our balances to keep our credit debt low, but there are times when we may have to split our balances. We should not be penalized for this. We pay interest as the price for using their money on time. Adding another charge just because they can is not reasonable or ethical in my opinion.
